I really liked it, It was a perfect time for me to read this. It reminds me a bit of A Wrinkle in Time, The Giver and other futuristic books that show what could happen if...

I love the value placed on Individualism without a feeling of self absorbency. The value of identity, concept of self and the human spirit are the core concepts throughout.

One of my life's True Joys!

4th of July in DC!!!

This is going to be a hard one to catch up on because it was so action packed! I feel really bad that I have let it go for so long and not posted about it because I know that I have now forgotten all the amazing wonderful things I would have shared from this whole experience.

This is my dear friend TJ with little Scotty on his shoulders! Its a big deal to be on TJs shoulders because he is already a whopping 6'10" tall! Scotty held on pretty tight! We are enjoying ourselves at a BBQ and after hours tour of the US Supreme Court to start our 4th of July weekend off Right!! Scotty's daddy just finished clerking for US Supreme Court Justice Alito. So we got to join them in the celebration!

We then set out on a private after hours tour of the US Supreme Court!!! It was sooo much fun. The Moore's have really had an amazing experience and will have great memories and stories for their 3 boys about this time in their lives.
Here is TJ and Dave in Justice Alito's office.

I was a little naughty and had Karen take a picture of me sitting at US Supreme Court Justice Alito's desk! He he! You just feel powerful sitting in that chair! And like you need to get up and out as fast as you can!

Probably the most fun we had was playing basketball (with a pro ABA player) in the highest court in the land! YEP folks there is a basketball court above the US Supreme Court! Right above the court-not just in the building somewhere-right above where the justices sit and hear the most important cases in the US! To say the least, there is no basketball allowed when court is in session!

Just so you know I am 5'6" tall I dont even reach his shoulder! When I hug him its a waist hug!

Yep there is even a YOGA class!!!! And there is a exercise class with US Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor!!! She and her lady friends go up and do their class several times per week! It's on the schedule on the door! I was wanting to be in that class!

Here are some more of the highlights of the US Supreme Court experience. I was so happy to just be with the Moore's and the Robinson's! So much fun!

>The next day was INDEPENDENCE DAY!! We set off to celebrate at Mount Vernon, General George Washington's home.

We were able to pose with him in front of his beloved Mt Vernon, I asked if I may have a picture with him and told him that he was one of my hero's and he said thank you for the ... I cant remember the word... it was one that you've heard before but that you know was used more when George was around. He was quite the Character...

Later that day I wanted to go down to Olde Town Alexandria to see if I could find Jamey (the guy that plays the glass-see video above) but was the only one that could go at that time so I went down but couldnt find Jamey but instead found WENDY!

Wendy and I met up and were trying to meet up with the Moore's and Robinson's, when it started raining! With the rain and all the crowds getting together proved to be impossible. Wendy and I sat on the walls surrounding the Tidal Basin at the Jefferson Memorial and watched the fireworks! It was amazing with the reflection over the water!

After the fireworks we walked around the Memorial for a while and took a bajillion pictures (pending-if Wendy ever emails them to me!!) and then went to Bob and Edith's Diner to get some dessert! I didnt end up seeing the rest of the crowd until the next morning! And we were all flying out later that day so we said our goodbye's and I ran to Olde Town with Wendy for one last look for Jamey the glass player and we found him!! I was ELATED! It ended up being a wonderful trip to DC! All the best elements included! Wonderful people that I LOVE, FIREWORKS, exclusive tour of the US Supreme Court, Jamey the Glass Player, great food, my Man-Thomas Jefferson, Mount Vernon and George! (not to mention 1st Class on the flight home!)

Arts Festival to the rescue?

So one evening I was in a very bad mood and knew I needed to get out and do something. That's when the Art's Festival came to the rescue- And my dear friend Amy Pett! We met up and soon after I was feeling much better. Amazing that just getting out and doing something can make you feel much better. Funny I cant even remember why I was in such a bad mood???

Flowers from the sweetest boy!

Could he be any sweeter? Luke is a little boy in my ward. He is amazing, cuddly and beautiful. He comes to sit with me during sacrament to give his parents a little break- I say little because he has 3 other brothers that keep them plenty busy even with Luke hanging out with me. But really I need Luke more than they need the break, he is just plain good for my heart. One week he brought me flowers from their home. I nearly cried.
Luke has Down Syndrome and is absolutely wonderful. He is amazingly high functioning and keeps me guessing all the time. I learn lots from Luke, the best thing he teaches me is that Love is all that really matters.

A bit of a rearrange

I was wanting to tidy up the blog a bit and decided I have never really liked the busy side bar but was always bothered that if I removed the picts and stuff on the side then I would lose them. I didnt want that, and I was bugged that I couldnt put them in the correct order (does anyone know how to do that? Is it possible to rearrange the order posts?). So I figured they would only get more and more out of context if I didnt do it sooner rather than later, so here they are... from 2007... a bunch of adventures out of order but so fun to reminisce...

The Robinsons are an amazing family I met while living in DC, they are in Liberty Mo. now and needed a photographer to travel all the way to Nauvoo with them- I was the lucky Pick. Unfortunately the trip was cut short with Craigs death, so I need to go back out there sooooon!

I am reading this for work stuff. Last month I went to our company headquarters to help train the "new hires," this book is a part of their training but I never had it in my training so I have started it recently. I love the premise of the book, Emotional Intelligence! Love this stuff! We'll see if I can be motivated to get into the book...

I read this for our "DC girls" book club and really liked it. Its so ingeniously written it kept me very entertained. Its narrator is Death. A good perspective of the losses and experiences of those on the German side of WWII
